{"id":1150,"date":"2016-07-27T03:31:31","date_gmt":"2016-07-27T03:31:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aphidtrek.org\/?page_id=1150"},"modified":"2024-05-21T19:52:45","modified_gmt":"2024-05-21T19:52:45","slug":"therioaphis","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aphidtrek.org\/?page_id=1150","title":{"rendered":"Therioaphis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Therioaphis<\/em> Walker<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a genus of about 30 species that feed on Fabaceae, are related to many tree-feeding aphids, and are in the subfamily Calaphidinae.\u00a0 None of them are native to North America, I have collected three of them here, and one of them was first discovered in the U.S.A. by me in 2013 (<em>T. tenera<\/em> in southeastern Idaho). Since moving to Colorado in 2021, I have been able to study <em>T. tenera<\/em> in the front yard living on &#8220;Siberian pea shrub&#8221; growing along the road. There is also <em>T. riehmi<\/em> down the road a stretch and <em>T. trifolii<\/em> on the volunteer alfalfa in the neighborhood.
